Regretting a Car Purchase (Right of Withdrawal)
Did you buy a car at a dealership, only to regret your decision? You generally cannot cancel the purchase. Dealers are under no obligations to offer an exchange or refund, unless they agree voluntarily.
However, if you purchase a car remotely (e.g. online), you are entitled to cancel the contract within 14 calendar days, without providing a reason and at no extra cost. That right is known as the right of withdrawal. To cancel your purchase, you can contact the seller by phone, email, letter, or by using the seller’s cancellation form.
It is important to note that purchases made at a car show (outside the designated sales area) are treated like in-store purchases, so the right of withdrawal does not apply.
