Invoice Payment Reminder Fees
An invoice typically includes a payment term. If no term is mentioned, you must pay the invoice immediately.
The first payment reminder should always be free.
Do you have a contract for a regular supply of goods or services, such as an annual newspaper subscription with monthly payments? In that case, you are entitled to up to three free reminders per year. From the fourth reminder, the business may charge you additional fees. These fees should not exceed 7.50 euros, plus postage.
From the first reminder, you have a minimum of 14 calendar days to make the payment. Please note that the 14-calendar-day period begins on the third working day after the reminder is sent by post.
If you still have not paid after the reminder(s), the business may charge you fees and late-payment interest, provided this is stipulated in the contract terms. Such fees and interest must be clearly outlined in the contract or general terms and conditions. Moreover, these fees and interest are legally capped, depending on the amount of the debt.
