Can a Supplier or an Energy Customer Unilaterally Terminate an Energy Supply Contract?
You have the right to terminate your energy contract at any time, regardless of whether it is for a fixed or indefinite duration. However, you must provide a notice period of no more than three weeks from the date of your request. If you exercise that right, you may not be charged any fee.
The terms of the contract should not restrict that right in any way.
Typically, the general terms and conditions of energy supply contracts include clauses allowing for termination of the contract (without court intervention) in the event of non-payment by the energy customer.
