Premium Rate Text Message
Some services (such as information, games, etc.) are provided through expensive text messages. You receive these through short text message numbers (typically 4 digits). Numbers beginning with 9 are subscription services, for which you usually have to pay a fixed amount every month. These amounts are never part of your regular rate plan.
A premium SMS service cannot start without your authorisation. By law, you are required to confirm twice before the service begins. Be aware that sometimes simply entering your mobile number on a website may trigger the service. Always be careful when entering your phone number online.
To unsubscribe from a premium SMS subscription, send "STOP" to the short number from which you received messages. Your operator is required to block access to these numbers upon your request, at no cost. If it is not a short number, you need to contact the company directly and request them to cancel the subscription service.
